Media Ecosystem Tour Itinerary

We’ve tailored the Media Ecosystem Tour  for the Africa Media Festival delegates, which will give them the chance to see the Kenyan Media Ecosystem in its natural setting.

Kuona Trust, Centre for Visual Art is dedicated to the generation, presentation, and promotion of innovative contemporary visual arts practice in Kenya. You’ll learn about Its artists’ studios, library, program of exhibitions, artists’ talks, training & mentoring, education, and international exchange, which aim to provide opportunities for artists to develop new and experimental contemporary artwork within a context of international current practice.

Kuona provides a platform for innovation through art and creativity. We act as a voice for over 500 artists, plus, thousands each year who benefit from our training and programs.

Africa Uncensored is an independent media house, founded by a team of the best Kenyan investigative journalists. You’ll get insights into their impactful mission of in-depth investigative journalism, the power it holds, and how it can be used to hold up a mirror to Africa and show it what it is.

Nation Media Group was founded in 1959 by His Highness the Aga Khan. Since then, the media house has grown to be one of East and Central Africa’s largest and most renowned independent media companies. Here, you’ll learn how they got started with Taifa Leo, the first Swahili newspaper in Kenya, Daily Nation, and Sunday Nation, which debuted in 1960, to their current portfolio, and how they’re guaranteeing their future through shrewd investments and acquisitions in the rapidly shifting media industry.

Buni Media was founded by Godfrey “Gado” Mwapembwa, an accomplished cartoonist, and Marie Lora-Mungai. It is located at the Godown Arts Centre in Nairobi’s Industrial Area. The popular XYZ Show, which uses satire to highlight topics of public interest, is one of the major productions of Buni Media. You’ll discover how Buni leverages the influence of narrative, the media, and artistic expression to promote participatory democracy, freedom of speech, and the development of the creative economy.

A taste of Kenyan cuisine will be part of this wonderful experience.
